Our Approach
Floral design shaped by intention, structure, and collaboration.
Our work is grounded in preparation and guided by a clear design language — balancing natural movement with architectural composition.
Our approach is collaborative, considered, and grounded in preparation.
Each project follows a clear framework—allowing space for creativity while ensuring every detail is thoughtfully supported from beginning to end.
Whether designing for a wedding, awards dinner, or brand activation, our process remains consistent: listen carefully, design with clarity, execute with precision.

The Approach
-

Phase One: Design Direction
Every project begins with creative alignment.
Through conversation and discovery, we define the overall direction — establishing color, mood, scale, and material approach. We consider architecture, environment, guest flow, and narrative to build a cohesive design plan. This phase ensures that concept and investment are aligned, and that the design feels intentional rather than reactive.
-

Phase Two: Planning & Preparation
Once direction is established, focus shifts behind the scenes.
We coordinate sourcing, mechanics, staffing, timelines, and logistics — ensuring the right materials, team, and systems are in place. Our planning is thorough yet flexible, allowing us to adapt as details evolve while maintaining structural clarity.
This preparation is what allows the work to feel effortless on event day.
-

Phase Three: Execution
With preparation complete, the work comes to life.
Florals are conditioned and designed in our studio, then carefully transported and installed on site. Whether building sculptural entry moments or layered table environments, our team works with professionalism, calm focus, and respect for the broader production team.
Following the event, we return for breakdown and removal — ensuring a smooth and considered close.
Design Philosophy
Our work is seasonally informed and grounded in intention and restraint. We favor clarity over excess and natural movement balanced with structure.
Each environment is shaped through collaboration and preparation — allowing narrative and setting to guide composition without overpowering it.
01
Intentional Sourcing
We source from local growers and trusted partners, selecting materials for character and integrity. Seasonality guides our work, allowing natural form to shape composition.
02
Responsible by Practice
Sustainability is embedded in our process. Foam-free mechanics, reusable vessels, and thoughtful material choices are standard practice — not aesthetic gestures.
03
Defined Point of View
We bring a clear design language to every project: organic yet controlled, expressive yet composed. Collaboration sets the foundation, allowing identity and environment to guide the final form.
04
Built with Care
Every project is approached with focus and full ownership. We value clear communication, preparation, and a steady presence — especially within complex event environments.
05
Executed with Precision
From studio preparation to on-site installation, we manage timelines and logistics with professionalism and calm clarity, ensuring seamless integration within the broader production team.
About the Studio
Sticks and Stones Flora is a New Jersey–based floral design studio creating sculptural, naturalistic environments for weddings, brand events, and corporate gatherings.
Founded in 2019 by Meghan Shaw, the studio was shaped by a foundation in marketing leadership and large-scale event production. Prior to launching the company, Meghan led marketing teams responsible for tradeshow programs and employee events — overseeing brand translation, vendor coordination, and the management of significant event budgets across complex environments.
That experience instilled a deep understanding of spatial design, stakeholder collaboration, and the operational clarity required to execute at scale. Today, those principles remain embedded in the studio’s work — where creative direction and logistical discipline operate in equal measure.
What began as a broader exploration of event production has since evolved into a focused, design-led floral practice. The studio now centers exclusively on floral environments as a primary medium for shaping atmosphere and identity.
Our work is defined by natural movement balanced with architectural composition — organic yet controlled, expressive yet composed. We favor clarity over excess and materials chosen for integrity rather than abundance.
Whether designing for an intimate wedding or a large-format awards dinner, each project is approached with intention, structural awareness, and a steady presence from concept through installation.
We collaborate closely with planners, production teams, and clients who value thoughtful design, refined execution, and environments that leave a lasting impression without spectacle.
